Training and Education

ARC has decades of training and education experience. We firmly believe that didactic along with real-life training is needed to understand and completely utilize the changing landscape of radiation oncology. Instruction for all of ARC courses are provided by clinical and administrative staff in the radiation oncology realm. Instructors with real-life practical knowledge brings an additional dimension to the level of instruction provided at ARC.

Board Review Courses

Studying for your boards and having difficulty finding where to start? Getting overwhelmed by the information that is listed? Want someone to breakdown the board review prep in easy to navigate modules? Instructors at ARC will provide you with all of the above and more. With over hundred years of experience between all of them – experience is plenty at ARC.

Dosimetry

The Dosimetry Borad Review course will take students through a review of fundamentals of dosimetry, discussions on several concepts and also step-by-step process of calculations.

Part I Physics

Part I Physics course take the students through a review on basic foundations of medical physics stressing on diagnostic, therapeutic and nuclear medical physics.

Part II Physics

Part II Physics course concentrates on reviewing dosimetry, shielding and treatment planning as it pertains to a medical physicist. Radiotherapy, brachytherapy and shielding are also discussed in this course.

Part III Physics

The Part III (Oral) Review course takes the students through the concepts as they pertain to everyday life in the clinic. The course digs deep into dosimetry, radiation protection and cyber security.

Health Physics (ABHP)

The Health Physics (ABHP) Review Course at Advanced Radiotherapy Consulting (ARC) is designed to prepare students for the American Board of Health Physics (ABHP) certification exam.

VirtRON

The field of medicine is multi-faceted. Nursing is a versatile career where graduating nurses are not specialized in any one field.

VirtRON course will dive deep into all aspects of radiation oncology relevant to nurses just entering or getting hired in the field. This 2-day course will get nurses up to speed on everything relevant in their job that pertains to radiation oncology.

VirtRON

Live courses are held in South Bend, IN or Las Vegas, NV. Registration and Breakfast begin at 7:00 EST Saturday morning with classes beginning at 7:30 EST and ending around 5:00 PM EST. Breakfast and lunch are provided on Saturday and Sunday.

Short Courses

These short courses will encompass a number of different topics. 

Commissioning course – This will navigate through the most efficient and comprehensive way to do commissioning of liner accelerators and HDR units. The course will also discuss on the correct equipment to be used.

MRSO

The field of radiation safety is understaffed currently. The Medical Radiation Safety Officers (MRSO) are very much in demand. This course will allow the students to learn the modules important to become a MRSO and competent in a clinical setting.

Commissioning

Commissioning is something that does not happen that often. Physicists might lose their skillset or they might need to refresh their skills on commissioning their machines. This course takes the attendees through the tests that need to be done...

SBRT/SRS

Stereotactic programs are becoming an integral part of any radiation oncology department. The startup and commissioning a program though similar to other modalities incorporates a stress on some special tests.

Nuclear Medicine

Radiopharmaceuticals are becoming an additional service line for many radiation oncology departments. Starting up a program for this very specialized modality is quite involved.
